This is a group effort in third year’s dynamic class, blowing something up!
This is the result of me and my team mates, Eric Andersson and Ben Casey. Lecturer Brian Samuels provided the assets for us to blow up, and we design the process of destruction. We decided we’ll drop an asteroid that destroys the center part of the tower structure. Which resulted in the giant ball falling down, creating a huge explosion that knocks down the spaceship that’s taking off. My part was mainly creating the giant dust wave that hits the camera, and in the process assist with rigid body simulation of the tower. And since I specialize in compositing as well, I also took over putting everything back in one scene and doing the final output. In the end we were quite satisfied with the result, and we’re glad that it got featured on MDS website and YouTube channel!
